Lizard manicure

Simple manicure....It's a small lizard on a fine feather line leaf.

I used Klean Colors Blue Metallic, and stamped using Shany plate with the fine feather line leaf in Milani silver.  Then I used SH23 to stamp a black lizard with Konad Black.  Then topped it all off with Seche Vite Top coat.  I think it turned out cute, I was out of ideas of what to do tonight.

My girls are celebrating dr seuss' birthday this week at school so I thought it would be fun to do a theme manicure!

Another manicure

My three color manicure suffered some damage from cleaning so I did a little something different.  

Base coat is KleanColor Beach Blue, it covers really well in two coats.

Then I taped off stripes and painted KleanColor Chrome Holo.

I had a little smudge on the middle finger, but I was able to make it work.

Sunday Stamping Challenge

This weeks challenge was to use three colors, I used the same base I have been wearing for a few days which is Klean Color Holo green.  Which wears really well

I did the tips with Konad Black using Shany stamp 06!  The red designs along the side were stamped with Konad red and Shany stamp 11.  The red design didn't come out as cleanly as I would have liked it - but I like how it turned out.

This is going to be a common polish in my manicures, it is beautiful!!  It sparkles even in the dim light.   I bought Holo chrome too, cannot wait to try it.  

Simple manicure tonight

I wanted to work on the caterpillar tonight so I just did a simple tip manicure tonight.  Base coat is Sally Henson Xtreme Wear and tip is Konad white.   

Another project

I have been working on crocheting lately, and a friend asked for a hungry caterpillar cocoon for her photography business, so I started on it this weekend.  I have made good progress so far, should be able to put it all together in the next few days and ship it out to OK. =)

A proper clean up

Thanks to fellow nail blogger at WackyLaki I have finally found the trick to cleaning up the manicure, check out the before and afters.  And what a little moisturizer will do too.

This is a nice deep blue, but it required three coats to cover fully.  It is my base coat for the Sunday challenge on my facebook group.

Nail-o-rama today

Today was my nieces 11th birthday party at her house.  So I hauled my supplies and I did a bunch of nails today, just simple designs on everyone nails.  It was great practice for me, and they are going much easier the more I do!  I think I managed to do 6 peoples nails and my sister in law said we should do a girls night without all the kids and just do nails.  I am all up for that!  More practice the better.  Bad news is I am running low on the Seche Vite top coat, so I will have to restock!  I am going to be doing my nails tonight for my facebook groups weekly challenge.  So I will have a design to show later tonight!

A huge realization today

Back on WW this year,  and trying to look at it differnt than before.  Making it a whole lifestyle change.  So far 17 days into the program I am down 13 pounds.   And being the geeky engineer I am I made myself a weight spreadsheet and charted my progress towards my first goal, ultimate goal and dream goal.   If I can manage 2.5 pounds a week I will reach ultimate goal the first week in august.  But a loss that is less than goal, is still an accomplishment.  I'm on the road to health.   I am going to start to document my progress in photos - as long as my hubby is willing.

My daughter saw a fake nail design in the store and wanted me to attempt to recreate it at home.  First try at freehanding a design, I just wish I had brushes rather than dotting tools.

Great haul today at CVS!

I went to cvs to get a valentine and saw Milani nail polishes marked for 75% off...$1.17 each!  So I picked up four colors.  Blackberry baby, ms milani (silver), midnight satin (dark blue) and lemongello!

Don't ya hate?

When you cannot ever seem to get full?  It is one of those days, I feel like munching all day but I know I can't because I don't want to.  I have made great progress since starting back to weight watchers the past 3 weeks, down nearly 15 lbs, which is nothing to laugh at.  But I am hungry!  lol

What a week

This week has been a busy one and I haven't been able to blog.  Just incredibly tired after working all day.

But I did manage to get two manicures done this week.  One was a red and black valentine theme and the other was a quick green manicure for a date night with my husband.  I will post the pictures shortly once I get them off my phone.

I am doing my Sister in laws nails today, so I will have another picture to show later.

Adventures in Konad Nail Stamping

This is a recent design I made for my nails using my Konad nail stamper.  If you are not familiar with the Konad nail stamper check out http://www.konadnailart.com/.  It is quite addicting to use all the designs I have - which I will share in a later post.

This is a fairly simple design and very appropriate for the workplace - some of the more detailed designs may or may not be too professional.  :)   I am still learning how to use the stamps and make the most of what I have - so I have a steep learning curve ahead of me.

I have created designs in many colors, but this is a muted design that suited my mood that night.  I also did my two daughters nails that night, so simple was what I needed!

What does the blog title mean?

I have been experiencing with nail polishes over the past month and have become addicted to all the different designs and colors.   And I also feel as though as a working mother I have to wear many coats throughout the day - and I believe my nail polish designs exhibit what coat is dominating in my mind.


Mothers coat - nurturing, patient, calm (which I struggle with sometimes), understanding, fun
Wife coat - loving, understanding, feminine
Employee coat - professional, organized, analytical
Referee coat - with two girls i am constantly breaking up arguments between them, they remind me so much of my little sister and I when we were growing up.

My first Blog

I have decided to start a blog to talk about my life as a working mother, wife and a person who has inner struggles with depression.

I am also going to share my trials and tribulations of trying to loose weight.  I am currently on Weight Watchers and slowly learning how to change my lifestyle to improve my life.  I have a great support group of friends at work who are also following the plan.
